Toilet water keeps running & stops after about 5 minutes... HELP!
PROBLEM: Toilet flushes and then cistern won't always turn off.
Usually have to press it again for it to stop (but that's after it has been going for about 3 minutes of water being wasted).

PLEASE NOTE that the main house shut off valve does not turn the water off in the house completely. My husband tried to stop it, but whilst he was trying to replace the cistern (which worked in the short term) the water was still coming out of the tap.. ridiculous!

What will a plumber have to do to rectify this? Freeze the main water valve?

So... the cistern is now running over again (ie. Water flushes and continues running for about 5 mins) and then I have to either let it just run its course and switch off or just have to keep pressing the 1/2 flush... how difficult will it be for a plumber to sort out or could my husband fix it??
