    Toilet stopped "swirling"
Hey everyone, hopefully someone can shed some light here.

Recently I had to change the little "flapper" that lifts when you flush the toilet. Now this flapper had a Styrofoam cone that I think acted to give it buoyancy and well it went down the hole and I'm hoping the drain.

The problem I am having now is the toilet will still flush, but it only does the jet at the bottom (with considerable force now) there is no more under the rim swirl.

Anyone know what might have caused this or how to fix it? Is it possible that the "styro-cone" is caught in the inside of the tank? Is it possible to take a toilet apart to look?

Though I would add that when flushed there is all so a new "rumbling wooshing" sound and some bubbles that come from the lower jet.

    Any help would be helpful!

    Thanks everyone,

    Craig

    Ahhh Craig,

You're not going to like my answer. The styrofoam piece off the flapper got sucked past the flush valve and into the rim of the bowl where it's now blocking the water from entering the rim and starting the swirl. Solution:
Turn the water off at the4 angle stoip and disconnect the supply tube. Flush and sponge the water out of the tank and undo the tank bolts. Lift the tank off and fish out the piece from in the rim. When you reassemble the tank be very careful not to overtighten the tank bolts. Leave the bolts so there's about 1/4" to 3/8ths of play in the tank. If you make the tank ridged the first time someone leans back it will put the tank bolts under a strain and crack the china. Good luck, Tom

A/C or Heat doesn't work in "on" or "auto". Fan will not come on at the "on" position either. I changed the batteries in the thermostat. I also read somewhere to disconnect the "Y" and hold it to the "R" on the thermostat for two minutes. That will tell me if the thermostat is the problem. ...

We have an issue with the city's sewer system in which when it rains (pours, hard) water will come back into the house from out back. The clean out "flap" will close outside but it's never air tight, thus allowing some water back in. the only place it comes in is under our toilet in the...
