Sulphur smell well water .
Hi,
As I said in my previous question, I finally got the well working. Initially the water was quite dirty and now it cleared up but still has strong sulphur smell. Could anyone tell me the reason? I am in Pinellas county, Florida. I will fill the swimming pool with the well water. Is there anything I need to pay attention? The pump was about 20 gpm so it may take whole day to fill 30,000 gallons swimming pool. Could I run the pump continuously until the pool is filled? Thanks. |

I'll bet you haven't lived in Florida very long if this is the first time you've run into sulphur water. You just answered you own question. We have a lot of "sulphur water" in our area. The only way to get rid of the smell when it comes out of the ground is a aeration tank, but it should aerate itself just setting in your swimming pool. Enjoy! " We have run our pool pump for longer then 24 hours. You might check the housing for overheating from time to time but you ought to be OK. Good luck, tom |
