    Smelly septic fumes
We have a septic system. We remodeled a bathroom this summer and also had our septic tank cleaned out. Why is there still a sewer smell in the commode sometimes but not always and what can be done about it?

How low is the water in the bowl?

If it is to low, then gas can escape through pipe just above the waterline.

I am more inclined to go with a faulty wax seal rather then a bad trap seal in the bowl. Regards, Tom

We installed a new furnace in our modular home a year ago. Since it was installed we have a problem with fumes when the furnace is running. The manufacture told me to duct air from under the house to the combustion. The fumes occur just before the blower shuts off. It is a forced air unit.
