    Water leak from upstairs shower
We have a two story home. About 6 months ago we went on vacation. When we returned and used the upstairs shower we noticed a water mark on the ceiling downstairs below the shower stall. We thought it would get worse but it dried and didn't seem to happen again. We just went on vacation again and when we returned and used the shower for the first time again it leaked again; the same as before. We want to repaint the ceiling but are afraid this is going to keep happening. Is this something we can fix ourselves or do we need to call a professional plumber? Thank you

Check to see whether the caulk is in good condition, and recaulk if necessary, especially in corners. Also check that the grout between the tiles is in good shape - i.e, doesn't break away when you scratch at it.

Downstairs Leak from Upstairs Shower [ 1 Answers ]

Our upstairs shower is apparently leaking into our dining room directly below it. It looks like the previous homeowner attempted to fix the problem as there is a hole in the dining room celing that was filled with plaster. I'm sure it's the shower, because it only leaks when the shower is on. ...
