    Shower problem
OK.. I'm new to both this forum and this "home owner" business. Tday while I was in the shower I noticed the shower was not draining. When I got out I used the plunger to help clear the drain with no avail. I then checked our other shower and it too had about the same amount of standing water. After many hours it finally drained. Im concerned that the clog is somewhere below where I can reach with my 15 foot snake will reach. I have limited plumbing exp (minor sink repairs and such) and I am tempted to crawl under my house and see if I could figure out the issue. I really don't want to call a plumber yet.. any ideas that would help? Am I missing something very obvious? Thanks in advance!

Did you try a coat hanger? Same thing happened at my daughters... I straightened out a coat hanger and used pliers to make a little hook at the end. You would not have believed how much hair I pulled out out of that drain. I swear it looked like a small animal. Runs perfectly now. Hope this quick fix works for you... much cheaper than hiring a plumber.

I have not tried a coat hanger or drain-o because I have to go to work and didn't have time to deal with it. When I get home I will try both the snake and drain-o; however, my fear is that since the backed up water flowed to my other shower that the clog is further down the line than a snake or coat hanger will reach.. . conflicted.

Rent 3/8" x 35' power snake from Home Depot and snake it again. Go full length of the cable. Flush with lots of hot water. See if that helped. Back to you. Milo

Look for a cleanout and open. Run water. If water flows past or is in the cleanout ,clog is below. If no or little water, clog is above. Narrows down your area to clear.
