What can stop water from flowing out of the shower head? I turned on the water. I turned around and it stopped flowing out of the shower head. I turned off the water with the handles and removed the shower head. Tried to turn on the water again and nothing came out of the pipe. Water is flowing out of the sink and toilet in the same room off the same source. Can a shower faucet stop the flow of water if defective?

Yes it can. Is this a single handle or two handle fuacet? Is it a tub shower, or just a shower? Make and model of fuacet will also help.

If you are in an older house that has galvanized pipes there could be debris clogging the valve body. If you have a single handle valve, when one side loses pressure the other side may not operate either. When a hot water tank dip tube deteriorates it deposits what looks like white sediment into your hot lines, if this stops up the hot side of your valve it may be the cause also.

Remove the shower head and tell us if it makes any difference. It could be your mixing valve but it could also be the shower head. Mixing valves rarely plug both hot and cold at the same time and completely

Look at this page to see if your faucet looks like this. If it does let me know and I will tell you what I have found out about them.
