    Shower Knob Removal
    I've replaced faucet washers before but never in this house (2.5 yrs in this old house). The knobs in the shower are hot and cold with the faucet in the middle for the batch. The knobs are mounted to the wall which is tiled. I removed the cap and unscrewed the screw in the middle of the knob, but cannot get the knobs off the faucet ends. I don't want to pry too hard. I've tried WD-40 but nothing seems to loosen them.

    Ideas?

    Try hitting the knob with something that won't break it, a small piece of wood or a hard piece of plastic. Maybe even pull on it with one hand while hitting it with the other. Try pouring hot water on it too. If none of that works, before you break it, see what Tom has to say. He may want more details about the brand and model.

    We use a "handle puller" for those stubborn knobs. This works like a wheel puller and most plumbing supply houses carry them. They are inexpensive and really work on a knob that seems to have grown onto the stem. Good luck, Tom
