Sewer smell from kitchen/bath after heavy rain
Every time we get a heavy rain, we get THE nastiest sewer smell from our kitchen sink... it rained last night and this morning, it was coming from the bathroom sink!!

We only get the nasty smells after heavy rain...
Any suggestions? Oh... and our basement is not flooded nor does it smell down there...

    City Sewer...
I called the utility office and they gave me the cell # of the sewer line guy that is in charge of the lines/pipes, etc... so my husband will call them tomorrow when he is home...

If we had a septic, with that nasty smell, I know it would have to be pumped... but we don't...

The only way you get sewer gas back through your sink is for the trap to go dry. That isn't likely unless your vent is plugged and the trap siphons. This would not go with heavy rain so I'm still thinking on this one. The city sewer guy is probably not going to be of much help but who knows.

OK... I am dumb... lol... what is the trap?
The smell only comes when it rains... well, the next day...

Let me know if you can come up with anything else! THANK YOU!:)

The trap is the pipe shaped like a J under you sink. It holds a small amount of water in it to block the sewer gas from getting into the home.
