    Sewer line stopped up
So I washed a blanket I guess the material was felt? Well I've washed it before with no problems, so I didn't think twice. Well this time nearly half of came apart and washed down into the drain. Well now my toilet and my bath tub fill up with the debris and dirty when I wash clothes. And not mention they drain really slow. Takes about an hour. I was wondering if there is anything I can do myself to clean this out or should I just suck it up and call someone to attempt to clean this mess out?

Hi silver and welcome, Sure there's something you can do, you can rent a "snake" from a big box store and snake out the line, Ok?

There's some really good experts here that can walk you through the process it you want.

Post back if you want to try, give more info, like septic or city, type of pipe, distance.

Parttime said it! Rent a sewer machine. But you have to determine exactly just where the blockage is located. At this pointimportant if you're on a septic tank or city sewer.
Go out side and locate the house clean out, ( it will be located not over 18" from the foundation and might be covered with dirt) We use a rod and probe for it. Open up the clean out and flush or drain something. If the water backs up out of the cleanout that's where you snake from. If it backs up out of a fixture you snake from that fixtures vent or if a toilet you pull the toilet and snake from there. But before you can snake you must locate the clog. Good luck, Tom
