    Septic smell in house
We have a septic smell throughout our single level 23 year old home. I desperatley need your help because it is making me VERY naueous all of the time. When the house was less than 5 years old we had sewage back up into our master bath tub just out of the blue. We had a septic repairman come out and he pumped out our tank and also broke off something that he called a trap. He said breaking it off would keep it from backing up into the house again. Well we haven't had it back up into the house anymore BUT ever since we have had the septic smell. We have two full baths that back up to each other. We had the smell mostly in the hall which sort of wraps around both baths and in our Great Room which is off the hall where the smell was. My husband looked under the house several times and saw no leaks. We also had a plumber look under the house and were told there were no visible leaks but still we had the smell. The plumber said he didn't smell anything and offered no suggestions about evaporated seals etc...
Finally one day I found leakage from around the base of the hall toilet and we thought we had corrected the problem since we completely took out the floor including the subfloor and replaced the seals for the toilet. The smell disappeared for about a year then came right back with a vengeance. Any advice you could offer would be so GREATLY appreciated!!

What trap did he removed ? Where was it located ? Traps are designed to seal sewer pipes from sewer gas entering your house...

Sewage seeping from under the toilet most likely means you have clogged main line and water is backing up. Did you have your main sewer cleaned out ? Please, let us know... Milo
