    Septic odor in basement
When it rains steady or hard, I always get a septic smell in my basement. I have had my septic tank pumped and inspected. Everything checked out fine. I made sure all the traps in the house were not dry. I ran water through all of them. I was told that it could be my vent pipe on my roof. There is two pipes on the roof. Are they both vent pipes? I was told to run water down them to try to flush them out. Would it hurt anything to flush both of these pipes out with water? If so which one should I flush? I did not notice any real bad smell coming from either of these pipes. Nothing close to the smell I have in my basement. Does anyone have any comments or ideas? Thanks!!

Rain and high humidity force odor to drift down so the smell's worse when it rains. Odor Hog has roof vent caps, (see image) that you should check out. Click on; http://www.odorhog.com/ to see. Good luck, Tom

OK... I want to start by saying I have done my homework over the past several weeks and several times thought I had this problem licked. I consider myself a handyman but this problem has got me stumped. We moved into this house in June 2005. In late October 2005 my wife and I noticed a foul...

Basement bathroom odor [ 1 Answers ]

The basement bath odor is not exactly coming from the bathroom. It is from the tank(? ) area behind the wall. The smell (where the tank is) travels out a closet to one room. Sometimes I can smell it in my foyer, which is on the first floor above the closet area where the tank is. -------- It...
