    Running toilet
My toilet was running for a period to the tune of 78,400 gallons of water before we found out. Toilet was repaired by a plumber and 3 weeks later started running again. We replaced the toilet with a brand new one to solve the problem. 1 week later now the NEW tolilet has started running--what else could be causing this? Water is going into the sewer.

You're going to hafta explain exactly what "running" means. Does the flapper allow water to leak out of the tank into the bowl? **or** does the ballcock runs so much it overflows into the white overflow tube. Let's have all the details, no matter how small. What type of ballcock do you have? (see image). Back to you, Tom

Well, unfortunately, I am in MA and my toilet is in Sarasota, FL. We put the new toilet in last weekend and my son (who is there now) advised that it is running. On the original toilet, the pressure was so high that the water displaced the porcelain tank lid and water was shooting straight up. A plumber replaced the insides but a month later, same thing happened so we decided to replace the whole toilet. Now the new one is running & I believe that the water is running out the overflow valve.

Would this happen if the toilet is not level? Handyman advised the floor was not level and tile people had filled with grout in order to level.

Thanks Tom. My son is leaving today to head back to MA & wants me to deal with toilet when I go down in December. Do you think it could be a levelling issue?

No! This is a ballcock/flush valve issue. Have your son shut the water off at the house shut off before he leaves and when you get down here either PM or E-mail me and together we'll get you fixed up. Regards tom PS. What area of Sarasota has enough pressure to blow the lid right off the tank? This must be corrected by a PRV, (pressure reducing valve). Excessive pressure can damage faucets and put a strain on the system. Get in touch when you come down. Rergards, Tom

Huntington Pointe. My better half contacted the water dept to question adjusting the pressure but came up empty.
