    Replacing a shallow well pump and am not getting water
    I had a shallow well pump that has froze and cracked so I bought another pump and installed it. I can't get any water to the pump.

    The pump is a 1hp 1"
    898 gallons per hour
    26 ft o suction depth
    164 ft of lift max


    I have replaced any fittings that look like the might be damaged.
    I have replace the spring loaded check valve that was inline I have primed the pump

    Please help me with any ideas

    Make sure the checkvalve is installed properly. It's a one-way street, so if you have it installed in the wrong direction, it will prevent flow to the tank. Do you know how deep the well is?

    You say that you've primed the pump. What happened? Did you get water and then it went away? No water at all? Does your gage show anything when it pumps? Let's hear back from you. Tom

    I double checked and the valve is installed the right way. I am not sure how deep the well is, I just bought another pump ( larger) and installed it.

    When I primed the pump the water was circulating in the pump( the priming water) but I did not get any water from the well. I am not getting any water to the pump at all. The gauge on the pump is not showing any pressure at all.

    Once you prime the pump and it starts, does it hold prime? I realize it's not pumping anything, but after several minutes, when you check for prime again, is there still water in the impeller housing?
