I need to replace the diverter - part #75878 on my Kohler Forte K-R10430

Is there a simple way to get it out of the body ? Part # 1036773 ?

This is kitchen faucet. It consists of three separate items: spout, handle column and sprayer. The diverter is located inside the sprayer column.

1.Close h/c angle stops under the sink
2. Remove handle
3. Remove column sleeve
4. You will see diverter towards the bottom, inserted into the column
5. Remove it ( inspect the orifice for debris, possibly clean it before you insert new diverter )
6. Insert new diverter
7. Re-assemble the trim
8. Turn water ON

Usually, the diverter stops working bcs of some kind of debris got lodged inside of it preventing it from operating properly. All it takes is taking it out, cleaning it under running water and flushing the water passages inside the body of the faucet column.

Doing the same thing but there is a retaining ring above the diverter once I removed the spout and adapter - the diverter won't some out unless I remove the ring. Same model K-10430

How do You remove the shank and get to the inside of the spout?

I have seen it. That's where I started. My problem is I don't know how to get into the body. I need to get into that to get to the diverter and check it. If you look at page 17 of your link, I was able to take the Ring (1031977) and the above washer off to remove the spout from the sink. I was also able to rmove the Spout (1036770). But everything else is in one piece, with no visiable way to get into the housing (for lack of a better word). I can't get past the Shank (1031961). The O-Ring (84100) has no slot that I can see. Forgive for my ignorance, I'm sure the answer is so simple that it will be embarrassing.
Do start with taking it apart from the bottom or the top?

I hate to tell you but you passed up the diverter\, (see image) a few items back. It'sl closer to the top. Good luck, Tom

If yours is like mine, there is no retaining ring. After removing the spout you can see the diverter inside the body, but if you feel inside the body cylinder you will find nothing above the diverter. Take a pair of long nose pliers, grab one of the plastic stubs sticking up from the diverter and pull straight up. It takes a bit of a tug, but the diverter will come right out. Push the new one into place, and you're all set. After living with a pathetic excuse for a spray for several year, ours now works perfectly. Hope this helps.

Remove faucet spout, drill an 1/8" hole in the center of the diverter. screw in a 1 5/8" coarse sheet rock screw about a 3/8". Then pull the diverter out with a needle nose plier. Works great

I have the same problem as Ghoster. I can see the diverter but there is a metal ring in the body that prevents me from pulling it out. I can certainly use force or screw and eventually pull it out but after that, do I just slide and push the new diverter into the body under the metal ring?

I had the same issue. My faucet was the 4 piece set, spout, handle, sprayer, and soap dispenser my service tag read R10430-CP-A with the last letter smeared. The diverter was in the top center of the post (spout section) with a retaining ring holding it in place. I had to use a very small flat head screwdriver to remove the retaining ring. There are little spaces on either side of the ends of the ring to fit in the screwdriver to pop out the ring. Then I had to use needle nose pliers to remove the diverter. I pulled on a number of fins and broke them off until I pulled the center of the diverter and got it to unseat. 9 years of hard water really made the diverter stick! I think I now need to replace a rubber o-ring to stop the water leaking out the base of the spout. More research and more money!

BTW to remove the spout you have to use a small allen wrench at the base of the spout to remove the screw. Once the screw is out you have to pull straight up with some force to remove the spout. The retaining ring, rubber gasket and diverter will be right in the center facing you. Make sure to plug the drains so not to lose the small pieces.

Sheetrock screw worked perfect. After struggling for a 1/2 hour before I read your suggestion, it only took seconds to get it out!
