Pvc water depth needed for freeze
I would like to know what the depth would have to be for my sprinkler line that one four foot section is approx. 18 inches below the ground. Wondering if that is a safe depth to prevent freeze? I live in central Indiana. The pvc line that has a shut off is approx.
    1-1/2"
    Thank you

If the line is freezing underground, the only solution would be to dig it up and put the line deeper, below the frost line. Your local extension agent should be able to give you a recommendation as to how deep.

You can bury a PVC line at a minimum depth of 12"-18", Thanks.

    Hi Bobby...

As Afaroo suggested, the appropriate thing to do here will be to contact your local building department and have them tell you the proper depth to bury your sprinkler lines to prevent freezing.

However, if freezing is any real issue in your area ( I really don't know much about Indiana.. *UGH*) you may need to actually plan on blowing your sprinkler lines down and winterizing appropriately as deep enough or not, if the vertical sprinkler lines and sprinkler heads are exposed to freezing conditions the pipes/heads will burst!
