Leaky p trap connection

 How do I fix a leaky p-valve connection? All parts are pvc, and the screwing part that attaches the p trap to the pipe coming from the drain is leaking on the underside. Can I do this myself? What supplies do I need? Thanks!

 I just took an old crane drexel sink off the wall and replaced it for the time being ( I want to fix the older sink) with a cheap vanity/sink set. All that was easy enough, but now to my chagrin I can't finish the job. The p trap is too low, the extension pipe from the sink doesn't go all...

 Tom - This is a real amateur question, but I can't seem to find the answer in my books. I'm installing a pedestal sink in profile opposite the bath door and need to connection to look good. The drain line is 2" PVC . I have a 1.5" chrome trap and can't figure out how to attach it to the drain...
