Is the leak coming from the spout or beneath the handle from the stem? Let me know, Tom

I would suspect the seat, Run your fingernail around the seat, If you feel nicks or rough spots then replace the seat. Good luck. Tom

Thanks Tom,
Like to get your advice on a couple other issues;Do I turn either of the two nuts before installing the valve/stem after installing the new seat ?; Do I let the small nut turn as I screw the stem/valve into the manifold against the seat or do I hold the smaller nut (the outer nut that the stem goes into with another wrench to keep it from turning when threading into the manifold ?

Hey Lowell,
Now you're getting into specifics. So I have to also. To answer your questions I'll need the brand name and model of the valve. And that's only if I can pull up a diagram off the net. Regards, Tom
