I just redid my second story shower and put a new subfloor under the basin. The basin needed the pipe to be exactly in the middle so the rubber boot would stop the water. It was a little off so the boot went on and I siliconed but it is still leaking so now I have to break the ceiling downstairs. My question is what can I use to guarantee it won't leak?

I'm going to have to have more information the what you've given me.
What's a "rubber boot"? Is this a neoprene coupling, a "O" ring that's part of the drain? Some sort of home made device or a replacement drain that you've installed to replace the original? I need all the details, no matter how small you think they are, about what you tore out and what you're attempting to replace. The "rubber boot" stopped me. Does it connect to the trap raiser? If so how? Is it a coupling attached to the drain? In short what I need to know is exactly how the drain connects to the trap.

What's a "rubber boot"? It is a round piece of rubber that stops water from going down the hole of the plastic. It is around the drain pipe I had to hammer it down.

The rubber boot slids over the drain the problem is my drain was not perfectly centered and it leaked. I am going to correect now tha I have to open ceiling any way to fix. Is there any kind of epoxy or tar type solution that can go in the hole that the drain pipe comes up?

The best solution would be to center the trap raiser. How far is the trap raiser off center? Can you strap the trap over enough so that it's centered? If not then any epoxy should both caulk and secure the raiser to the shower drain. Make very sure all the areas are both dry and clean before you epoxy. Good luck, Tom
