    Hi Loislg139

    In most cases, a problem like this requires that the SPARAY DIVERTER, which is internal to the faucet and usually under the valve body, be replaced. The spray diverter can be located vertically or can be inserted horizontally (see image).

    Determine the name brand of the faucet and then call the manufacturer of the faucet and have them send you a new spray diverter... hopefully, they can send a schematic showing you how to disassemble the faucet and replace the diverter.
