    Installing corner shower on slab.
    I plan on installing a corner shower which is on slab (1 story house). It's my primary bathroom and I want to put the shower in the corner opposite of where the plumbing for the tub is that's currently installed.

    I planned on renting a jack hammer and breaking up a trench from one corner of the bathroom to the other.

    My question is how do I install the p-trap. Do I create a p-trap right under where the shower tray is going to go, then feel it with sand then top it off with concrete? Or just feel it with concrete? I know p-traps are to keep sewer gas out of your home, but I also though they were there to capture larger pieces of debri, like maybe your wedding rings? I would hate to rip out the shower and jackhammer the floor up to get to the p-trap, but if that's they way it's done, then that's the way I will do it.

    Hey JD,
    We leave a open square for a tub installation because the waste connects to the trap below the floor level. On a shower we position our shower traps directly under the shower drain and bring the raiser up about 2 or 3" over the floor. The cement men then pour over the trap leaving the raiser to be picked up by the shower drain.

    Nope! They just stop sewer gas from entering your home. We put strainers/grates over the drain to keep out debris and wedding rings. However, if you should ever lose your wedding ring down the drain just click on back and I'll walk you through retrieving it without tearing up the shower floor. Good luck, Tom
