I just recently had a shower only valve replaced. A ceramic tile had to be removed to get to the part and then repaced. I was charged for 6 hours of labor. Is this really how long it takes to do this job? Thank you, lo

Hi Lorort...

It is just sooooo hard for us to make any determination on this for you... ;) Sorry.

Were you present while the work was being done? Did the plumber need to come to the house and determine the correct part he needed? Did he then go off and purchase the part only to come back and find he needed to remove that tile and then replace the part? Did he then have to go off and find a replacement tile that matched up perfectly to the old tile or was he able to use the old one. Finally, did he have to go get any cermaic tile adhesive and grout.

If he did all of the above, then it certainly could have run into 6 hours, but if he had done his homework that could have been reduced to a 3 hour job, too!

Anyway, hard to say here... most jobs like this run a couple/few hours.

Can you let us know exactly what you know..?
