    How to remove Shower Base?
We are trying to replace our master bath shower and cannot remove the shower base that is currently in place. The shower drain appears to be attached to the base. We have attempted to remove the rubber ring around the drain, but are not able to as it is very thick and hardened. We do have access to the underside of the drain from below, but do not see where the drain can be unattached from there. We will be replacing the shower base with the same size fabricated base. Our plumbing knowledge is pretty limited, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If the old shower base is plastic then take a Saws-All and saw that sucker out. You will be left with a shower drain on a raiser from the trap. Before I can go on I need to know the material the trap and pipes are made of. Back to you. Tom

The P trap and main pipe to the sewer are black plastic. The pipe that goes vertical into the shower base is metal. When you say use the saws-all do you mean to use it on the base itself or on the rubber stuff that is holding the pipe to the base?

Thanks so much for your help!
