How do you remove major calcium buildup from PVC pipes?
We have a 5 year old house and every time we take a shower upstairs the bathroom on the first floor floods. We have noticed large clumps of calcium deposits in the PVC pipes we can get to. Is there a way to remove the buildup... Fast?

I think you have a clog, and although you have mineral and/or calcium pieces coming out - it may not be your big problem You can use white vinegar to help reduce that build up. Some have used CLR, but start with the vinegar first.

If you still have clogged drain... You need your to clear the clog by snaking the line out completely. I never suggest drain cleaners because some are pretty harsh - to your pipes and you.

You can rent a snake - if you need more help - post back.

You gave a partial blockage downstream from the downstairs fixture that's backing up. Snake from the roof vent. Put out enough snake to reach the base and 18 feet more.

The fastest way I know would be to put a cutter tip, (see image) on the snake and snake the pipes in question.
    Good luck, Tom
