When you removed the water softener you should have just capped off both ends, the water softener feed and the drain line that came from it.

Did your tank have a backwash pipe? If so, you may have connected the feed to that. Can you attach a diagram of the piping? Most just have a loop with a bypass valve.

Have 2 pvc pipes coming up through floor, don't know piping under floor. Cut pipes from softener added 2 elbows and nipple to loop them together, turned water on and have weak water pressure in house and water continuously running into septic tank. I don't want to hook softener back up but looks like I have no choice. Looping pipes together wouldn't that be the same as by-pass valve on softener? Please email me at [email protected] |

Unless you know what pipes go where, you are just guessing. Hard for us to help without being able to see details. Search "Water softener piping hookup" for examples. I had one a long time ago, had 2 valves, supply to tank and bypass direct to house. What pipe is going to the septic?

I would go back and look at the softener. Should be inlet and outlet pretty obvious, with a bypass in a different area, and frequently not 3/4 inch pipe. That should tell you what you are dealing with.

Rain Soft water softener

My sister-in-law just bought a house that has an old Rain Soft water softener in it. The only thing I can find on the head is an electronic brain. I would like to find an owner's manual, but don't know how to proceed. Can you help?
                           Thank you,
