    How do I change an angle stop?
    Remodeling question.

    Remodeling a bathroom and have removed the vanity and drywall behind it to expose all the plumbing. I have copper tubing as the water supply lines. I want to change the angle stops to the positive shut off type (one quarter turn for positive shut off). How do I determine if the existing stops are sweated on or if they are screwed on to a male adapter? I'm a little afraid to twist and break the existing copper by just cranking on the valve with a pipe wrench.

    You have to look very closely to see if the angle valve is sweated or it is a compression type.

    If it is sweated type you need a torch to heated it and remove the valve, or you can cut the copper tubing install a compression valve or you can replace it with a quick connect does not need a tool or sweating, see the images below, Thanks.

    Take a picture and post via "go advanced/manage attachments".

    We can tell.

    Some long ones are sweated close to the wall.
