    House water pressure too high
    The water pressure in my parents is 122 . Someone has told them that it is too high and that it should be about 65 . The house is about 32 years old . They were also told that they needed a new valve to decrease the pressure. I have never heard of someone trying to lower their water pressure in the home. Want to know if this sounds correct

    Yes it is too high, noramal pressure is 40-65 psi, are you on city water or your own well, check if you have a water pressure regulator installed if you do then you can adjust the water pressure, Thanks.

    Yes, you have heard it correctly. All plumbing fixtures are designed to work at about 55 psi. Otherwise, they may not function properly and will wear out more rapidly.

    I don't know what part of the country you reside in, but let's say in my area, Water Pressure Regulators are required by Code on house plumbing systems if water pressure exceeds 75 psi.

    Additionally, Irrigation Sprinkler manufacturers also recommend that incoming water pressure should not exceed 95psi for sprinkler heads and valves. . If higher, they also recommend installing Water Pressure Regulators.

    Solution to your problem is: Install Water Pressure Regulator. Reduce pressure to about 55psi.

    No more than 60 psi. I am curious to know the water source also. If it is municipal, the municipality is responsible for regulating the pressure. If it is a private well, the preuuse valve on the pump is bad.
