I have a sewer smell in adjacent bathroom as result of removal of kitchen sink .
I got new granite countertops and when my new surface mount sink arrived, I called a plumber for installation. The plumber removed the old sink and cut the pipes in preparation for installation of the new sink. We discovered that the granite guys had cut the sink hole too big. So he put duct tape over the pipes and I am waiting for a new piece of granite to be installed to hold the new sink. In the meantime, there is a sewer smell--not in the kitchen, but in an adjacent bathroom. What is the cause and what should I do?
    Thank you,
    Connie

Were any pipes left open inside the wall? The smell could be traveling through the walls from the kitchen to the bathroomk. Have you put more tape over the open pipe to seal it better? Let me know. Tom

The only pipes he cut were two under the sink and I keep making sure the seal is tight on the tape. Those two pipes are what you see when you stand at the hole where the sink goes. I don't know how all that sewer venting works. I closed the sink drain in that bathroom, but am still smelling it. Maybe I should put tape over that too. It is just surprising that there is no smell in the kitchen but it's in the bathroom.
Thank you for your quick reply :)
