    Garbage disposal
If a garbage disposal's blades no longer grind and make that loud, deep sound, does that automatically mean I need to have a whole new disposal installed? When I turn on the switch, I do hear the whirr of a motor, but there doesn't seem to be any grinding going on. I did check the area for fallen debris, but all I found down the sink was a few small crumbs. I don't think anything is caught in the blades, because I would recognize that sound. Thank you for any advice!

If you don't see the grinder plate rotating, it has separated from the motor shaft. Not repairable, time for a new one.
