Fill tube not filling... until water source turned off and on again
    Good evening,

How many do-it-yourselfer questions do you get that start saying... "Bet you never heard this one!"? Well, I hope you have.

I have a toilet with a ball cup fill valve and the refill suddenly stopped working... kind of. It flushes fine, but upon refill, the water trickles out of the arm above the refill tube. If I turn off the water supply and turn it back on, it gushes from the refill like normal. Happens every time. I am baffled to no end. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you have trash in the washer opening. Shut the water off to the toilet. Not just the top of the cap counterclockwise a, and pull up. You will find a black washer, Pry it loose and make sure the hole is clear. Now place a pan over the opened valve and turn the water back on to flush out the supply. Reassemble and test. Good luck, Tom

Toilet water not going through fill tube [ 3 Answers ]

My toilet water is simply trickling out of the top of the valve, down the arm, rather than going through the fill tube. I tried putting a hanger into the hole leading to the fill tube, to see if anything was blocking. What could be the problem and how do I fix it? Thank you.
