    Faucet stems in the bathtub
On the tub the faucet stem has to be replaced. Even if you have the
Proper lenth. And they resemble the one that is installed. The threading does not match with the fitting that's embedd in the wall.
It would be nice to buy the entire tub/bath kit. But I don't know if the stems
Would screw in? I often wonder if people buy the kits for existing tubs, not
Knowing if the threading is agreeable. I don't know what kind of stem it is. I brought the stem to a plumbing shop, they charged me $30.00. Home depot
Has stems for $10.00 but they didn't have my size. It's the hot water side. The problem with the stem is the handle part the handle and the stem end have
Lost there grip, the groves in the handle and the stem rub away.

Tell us what brand of valve you're working on? How old? Are you sure you're not trying to install a hot water stem and washer assembly in the cold water side? Regards, Tom
