Good morning. I live in a duplex in the city of Chicago. The ejection pump for the downstairs toilet is housed in an open storage space of the building that is adjacent to my bathroom/hallway/bedroom etc.

The other day I had a fuse blow. Instead of finding the specific fuse for the rooms I just switched all of them off then back on again which relieved my problem. I noticed later that evening that my ejection pump was not working.

Is there a fuse tied in with the ejection pump that sits in not my unit but the next door unit? There is an electrical outlet where the plug from the outlet to the pump is placed. I went over there yesterday and simply pulled the cord out then plugged it back in hoping that would power up the pump again but it did not.

I am not using the toilet downstairs now because when I did some water came back up through my tub drain after I flushed. I also noticed some water sitting on the floor around the basin in the other room where the pump is which I am guessing is because the basin is now full since it is not pumping correct?

Do you know what I need to do to get the pump working again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing is to see if outlet is working. Take a lamp with a bulb you know is good and plug into outlet. If lamp works then problem is with pump. If not working then breaker may be in other unit.

Check these and get back to us.

To add to my posting after reading other post I did notice that the outlet where the cord is plugged in is very loose. Maybe this means that the pump is not getting the proper charge?

Did you plug a light or tool into the outlet as suggested? If not, I'd start there. If you have power after plugging in device then spread the tongs on the pump plug and replug the pump. If that fails to energize the pump then the pump is either shot or has something caught up inside the impeller... *UGH*!
