    Drilling CPVC for IceMaker Saddle
Hi, I read somewhere on this site before I joined some comments to another party about proper uses of CPVC vs PVC in a home. Somewhere in the blogs was a url to a professional site dealing with these two products. In reading the comments on the CPVC I noticed that in the "Do Not Do" section... it said do not drill CPVC.

My question is how do you install an IceMake saddle to CPVC without puncturing it by drilling (1/8") for the needle? One E-How article dealt strictly with just this procedure. From my standpoint, I get into trouble when I think I know something. So I am asking before the install.

By the way, this is a framed house under construction right now in Central America but I am using all U.S. stuff.

    Thanks!

Good question! Will the saddle valve,(see image) fit over the CPVC raiser? If so it's self taping. If not then cut in a tee and bush it down to accept a plastic ice maker line that you can glue in . You may then glue in a PVC in line shut off valve. Good luck, Tom

skip the saddle valve (especially on new construction) simply cut in a tee and add an actual stop (1/2 x 1/4) for the feed line.
