    Drainage problem
    Have had a new shower fitted with durgo valve water not drainig away a should.Have put hose down and water goes away no problem.Could durgo valve be fitted upside down?

    It's kind of hard to install a AAV upside down. Tell me exactly how you installed the AAV. Before or after the trap. You didn't hide it in the wall did you? Let me have all the details that you have. Back to you, Tom

    Plumber installed and its behind plasterboard so don't know.Did you mean its kind of easy to install durgo upside down or klnda hard and would it cause this problem? Ta Jim

    Common sense would tell you what side is up on a AAV.(see image) Was yours installed upside dpwn? For openers your AAV was installed out of code. A AAV MUST be installed in a assessable location where it can be easily serviced. If you don't know how it was installed open up the wall and tell me. Back to you, Tom

    Hi tom
    When I put hose in trap the water drains freely but when I put hose in shower tray the water builds up in trap and takes its time going away.I just wonder if the durgo is too efficient and is not letting the water drain away.
    If I just removed durgo to try without would it cause any problems.

    Removing the AAV would leave you with a direct open connection between your house and the city sewer. If this were my call I'd replace your old AAV with a Studor Vnt. I'm not familiar with a Durgo Vent but have had no problems with a Studor VFent,(see image) And if you're gonnan hide it in a wall by code youn must leave a acess [anel w3hre it can be serviced or replaced.
