    Digging a Well
I have a deep well, and it is constantly starving for water, I can't use the hose outside for to long or else I will be without water for a couple of hours. I was told by a few plumbers that I was about 10 feet from the bottom with the pump. One suggested that I could add about 5 feet to it, but then I would be sitting 5 feet from the bottom and sucking up sediment etc... and he wasn't sure that would even fix my problem. So I was curious if it was possible if I could add depth to my current well or would I have to dig a completely new one? Or if anyone has some other suggestions... I a just tired or having to always worry if I am using too much water...

    Thanks in advance.

You need a well guy out there to advise whether to deepen the one you have or dig a new one. We can't do it from here. Sorry, Tom

So I just had a well digger come over and give me an estimate on a new well, considering that my old one can't have depth added. My existing well is around 150 FT, the new guy came and estimated that he would have to dig the new well at 150 ft. One is in the back of the house, and he wants to dig the new one in the front of the house. I was curious if I am having problems with my current 150ft well would I have the same issues with another 150 ft well.

Also I was curious if 2 Showers, Doing one load of dishes, and 1 load of laundry in about a 2 - 3 hour period is a lot of water to use in that amount of time, and would make me run dry

I would get estimates from several diggers before going ahead. Important to be the right distance away from your septic system. Also depends on what kind of rock he is drilling through. Groundwater can be like an underground seep or spring or lake or even a river, depending on what he taps in to. I sort of doubt he will get substantially more flow moving over only maybe 100 ft but he could. Also you won't have all that sediment in your new well. Try to get him to go slightly deeper than the existing well was.

I would really press him about that. Once the well is dug and the casing is in place, then going deeper will probably not be an option, so you really want it to be right the first time.
