I am no fan of harsh chemicals to open up drains or to maintain them. As a plumber I have never used them or have I ever recommended using them. If you're going to put anything down your drains, pour some bleach and let it set overnight. Next morning flush it out with a pan of boiling water. The bleach will work on the grease in your lines and the boiling water will loosen it up and flush it out. Why spend money for something you have in your house that will do the job just as well or better and won't cost a arm and a leg? If the drain clogs completely I snake out the line. I know of no chemical that you can purchase over the counter that will clear a full blockage. Good luck and thanks for using AskMe. Tom
