My problem is the volume control does not work. (s96-1) The square protrusion on the control handle which slips into a black plastic part Does not move the black plastic part. The plastic part is stripped. Can this be replaced and how is it done?

I would like to replace my Symmons Model A Faucet Flow control but I cannot remove it. I unscrewed both visible bolts on each side and a smaller bolt hiding under cover. The handle seems to have frozen to whatever it sits on. Please advise how to remove it. Thank you!
