    "Burping" garbage disposal
I have a garbage disposal that seems to "burp". It also drains slowly and if one side of the sink is filled with water, it will drain into the other side until both sides eventually drain out. I've tried draino type products but nothing seems to fix the problem. It occasionally smells bad too.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

I had this same problem at my old apartment. There may be a build up near the blades. Turn off the power to the unit (under the sink) and use a flash light to look in there. Typically it's from blades not spinning from lack of use. A 1 foot long flat head screw driver can be used to loosen the blades again (although not suggested to do your self) once this is fixed a preventive measure is to throw a lemon into the disposal once a week.

2 trays of ice will fix the odor and the blades. Let a tiny amount of water run while doing this. Cover but not seal the drain to prevent splatter. The burp is typical, don't fret it.

Heater blows cold when "On", not at all on "Auto" [ 1 Answers ]

Our gas heater is 7 years old, and has worked fine in the two years we've rented here. This winter though, we can't get it to work consistently. When on "Auto", it doesn't turn on at all, no matter what temperature we select, and when we turn the fan to "On", it simply blows cold air. It...
