Basement wall leaks when toilet flushes
We live in an OLD farm house with a stone basement. Whenever we flush the toilet the basement wall leaks. It is clean water. Any ideas what the cause is and how to fix it?

Couple of questions if you don't mind... first, where is the toilet ? Is it in the basement? And second, where in the stone basement is the leak?. Is it leaking down the wall if the toilet is upstairs or is the leak near the toilet on the basement floor. Not that I can answer since I am not a plumber but there is a plumber that's a member of this site and I am sure this may help him and others in giving you a good answer.

I take it that the toilet's located on a upper,(first or second) floor. You must track the leak back to the source. Are there drainage pipes near or in the wall, where the water can be seen? Have you opened up the ceiling under the toilet to see if the leak originates from there? What have you done to track it down so far? Regards, Tom,

Am tackling putting in a bathroom in the basement. Walls are already up, but I noticed now that the center of the drain for the toilet is around 14" from the studs (drywall yet to go on). Is a seemingly simple installation now going to be a more major undertaking? I'm relatively new at this and...

Basement toilet too close to wall [ 1 Answers ]

OK, my plumber stubbed in a toilet and everything else in our basement bathroom and I am just finishing it out. It appears like they didn't count for the drywall because the tank is too close to the wall for the toilet I bought, it's very close but I sort of got it wedged in there and bolted the...

I’m in the process of having both of my upstairs (two story house) bathrooms completely remodeled i.e. gutted, new walls, floors, tub, toilet, sink, etc. Prior to remodeling, I have never had an issue in regards to an adequate amount of hot water for taking a shower. Now that one bathroom has...

Toilet continuosly flushes [ 4 Answers ]

When not being used, the toilet continuously flushes over time. It's like the toilet drains the water low over time to make it flush. I have changed out the flapper and still have the same problem. I did notice the tank is not level, could that have something to do with it?

Smell when toilet flushes [ 2 Answers ]

I have a two story home about 3 years old. The problem started about a year ago with the upstairs toilets. Then included the downstairs toilet. It is a septic smell . The toilets all gurgle and burp when flushed which of course lets the smell burp in. I've snaked all the vents today and find no...
