Basement drain is overflowing due to rag
Hello, I would really appreciate any help! My mom was doing laundry tonight and while the washing machine was emptying into the laundry sink, a small washcloth went down the sink. We know it went past the trap because the water does not clog up up in the sink drain, but the 'overflow' drain in the basement floor is now overflowing with water anytime we turn on the water! What can we do? Is there anyway to dissolve the cloth? If the overflow is coming from the floor, does that mean we should try and 'snake' it from the floor drain? Please help!

Yep! That's the only way you're going to clear the drain.Put a straight auger tip ,(see image) and go down the floor drain, If there's a plug in the floor drain then that's a clean out, and auger into the washcloth and pull it back. Good luck, Tom
