    Basement drain keeps backing up
Out basement drain keeps backing up. We have city water but not city sewage. I grew up in this house, and when my grandparents passed away, my husband and I bought it 5 yeasrs ago from the estate. I do not remember my grandparents EVER having problems like this. The only time it backs up is when I use the washing machine. You can do approximately 2 loads and then it starts backing up. We only use liquid laundry detergent, but when we rented a snake and tried the "do it yourself" method, there was soap powder that came up from the drain. (I'm thinking this problem had to be ongoing and I didn't pay attention as a kid to it). We also have a neighbor who borescoped (spelling?) with a camera, he could see no collapsed pipes. We swore we could never call rotor rooter, but we finally bit the bullet and they are coming out tomorrow morning.

There are numerous drains in the basement. This one is the lowest one in the house (I believe). The other drains (obviously) are not having this problem. Just this one.

I'm at my wits end. HELP! PLEASE!! :o

But did you open up the septic tank to see if it needed pumping? If not do so and get back to me. Tom

So you made the decision to call Roto, is there still a question here? Try to answer Tom's question and how far did that neighbor scope the line? What size line are you draining you washer into?
