    This site will tell you how it's done. Basically, turning the large center nut will adjust both the cut in and cut out pressures. Turn it clockwise to move pressure points up, counterclockwise to move pressures down. Using this nut will maintain about a twenty pound differential between the cut in and cut off points.

    The small nut will adjust only the cut off pressure.

    Sometimes our switch will not kick on, it is a brand new switch. Is there an adjustment for this or why does it happen. We have to go to the well house and trip the switch to get it to kick on.

    Is your pump switch working better now. I have an older switch and often there is a delay in the pump starting. NO water coming. I am now going to check my pressures on the swictch and set them at 20 psi to start and 40 psi to stop.
    Please advise what you did to free your sticky switch.

    Two items:

    1. The little pipe leading to the switch can get clogged and make the switch sluggish.

    2. Older switch can = worn out. They are cheap to purchase and easy to install if you are comfortable with doing that kind of thing.

    Some times during the day the pump goes off,Then I have to click the breaker to start the pump??

    If your pump keeps throwing the breaker then it's calling for more amps then the breaker's set for. This could be a bad capacitor or a short in the motor windings. How many amps is the breaker? I'd have the pump checked out ASAP. Good luck, Tom

    Good answer by Speedball. The only other culprit that comes to mind might be defective buried cable. If you have buried cable, you can try unhooking it at the switch, then see if the breaker continues to throw. If it does, then you have found the problem.

    Im needing to up mu water pressure and after reading the site that was mentioned on here, I am nervous to touch the nuts in fear of getting shocked. My cellar is very wet and the floor often has puddles, is there anything I can do besides shutting off the whole thing, because then I have to prime the pump and it is a right pain.

    Shut the breaker off. That should have no impact on having to prime the pump. When you adjust the switch, bear in mind that quarter-turns don't accomplish much. Take a full turn at a time. It's trial and error. Clockwise to go up, and CCW to go down. There are two nuts. Adjust the large one in the center.
