    Can u guys explain how tube light works in a simple way

    1. You have some gas in a tube, and you pass an electrical current through it.
    2. The current gives the gas energy which raises the electrons in the gas to a higher energy state.
    3. The electrons will spontaneously jump back down to a lower energy state but to do so they must lose energy, so they emit light. The type of light they emit is in the ultra violet spectrum, which you cannot see and so is not helpful.
    4. There is some paint on the inside of the tube that will absorb the ultra violet light
    5. This excites the electrons in the paint into a higher energy state.
    6. The electrons in the paint jump down to a lower energy state and emit light, this time in the visible spectrum.

    Wooo we have light!
