    How large a current would be flowing in the wire?
    A typical copper wire might have 2 × 1021 free electrons in 1 cm of its length. Suppose that the drift speed of the electrons along the wire is 0.05 cm/s. How many electrons would pass through a given cross section of the wire each second? How large a current would be flowing in the wire?

    Hint: The number of electrons per centimeter times their velocity in cm/second gives the flow in electrons/second. Another hint: one amp of current equals 1 Coulomb of electrons per second.
