    Velocity Vectors
The velocity vector V1 has a magnitude of 4.0 m/s and is directed along the +x-axis. The velocity vector V2 has a magnitude of 3.0 m/s. The sum of the two is V3, so that V3=V1+V2. True or false for the following statements?
The magnitude of can be 4.0 m/s
    The x-component of can be 4.0 m/s
The magnitude of can be 8.0 m/s
The magnitude of can be 0.0
The magnitude of can be -5.0 m/s
The magnitude of can be 7.0 m/s

urvee - first please verify that the where you wrote the phrase "the magnitude of can be ..." is meant to be "the magnitude of V3 can be ..."

Please try to answer these yourself and post back what you think the answers are, and why. I suggest that you draw a diagram of V1 and for each case try and see if you can come up with an example of a direction for V2 that makes the statement true. Post back what you think the answers are and we'll check them for you.
