    Yes, that's 'cause of the centripetal force which tries to make them continue in a straight line. They bend to overcome that force, right?

    That's right and also because centrifugal force is a fictitious force. What is called centrifugal force is really a manifestation or the result of inertia. Any time the word Centrifugal Force is used, what is really being described is a Lack-of-Centripetal Force.
