    Rollercoaster car compressing spring
In an amusement park ride, a 100 kg car is released from rest at a height of 30 meters down a track that reaches ground level (0 meters) and rises back to compress a spring (k=1000 N/M) as it comes to rest finally at a height of 20 meters.

Is the car moving faster as it reaches 10 meters (down) or as it reaches ground level (0 meters)--assuming the track is frictionless? Why or why not?

Compressing photo to upload to site [ 2 Answers ]

I'm trying to upload a photo (plumbing) so I can explain better what I'm trying to do. Can someone tell me how to compress my 388kb photo to at least 279 kb because that's what the site is asking for. I've tried compressing it but it won't compress to the size that the site needs.
