    How do I know when to give the correct decimal places or significant figures for my answers?(physics)

    Ok , here's how it goes...
    when times and dividing ,
    follow the significant figures of the smallest decimal
    IE.
    9.001 x .01 = 0.09001 would be
    0.090 (2 significant numbers according to 0.01)

    When plus or minus,
    follow the least decimal places of the numbers
    1.0001 + 0.001 = 1.0011 would be
    1.001 (3 decimal places as in 0.001)
