    You can send signals through Space now, You will need a receiver if you wish to communicate.
    How small? Size of an EPIRB?

    I'm not sure I understand what you're asking about, so please be more specific with your question. However, you send radio waves whenever you use a wireless cell phone or a wi-fi or blue tooth device (PC, head set, iPhone, iPad, etc.). If you want to communicate over radio you can use a cell phone, or a cordlesss phone, or you can buy an inexpensive pair of walkie-talkies. Is this what you're asking about?
