You need to build a starting portfolio to start with... Get together with a local photographer and schedule a meeting to discuss photo-shoots. Maybe the photographer has a studio or knows some great locations for the shoots. You need to have plenty of options for clothing too. Obviously make-up and hair must be done...

If money is tight, you can try getting a photography student to take free pictures in exchange for both of you having rights to the photos for portfolio and such.

Once you have a good portfolio built, you probably need to find an agent that can get you some real modeling gigs with reputable companies... It isn't going to happen overnight. Companies probably have millions of pictures of models that they never use, just in case... They look through them and find the best people for their product. Then those are the people that get the most work. Keep that in mind...

Portfolio first, Agent next, jobs last... I hope this helps. :)

Id like to add that if your talking to local photographers you ask if they are having any "open shoots" that way you can trade your skills for pictures that they take. Also it is a good way for you to break into the community on a local level. If your under 18 your going to need your parents permission and they will have to accompany you to the shoots.

There are many agencies out there and a whole world of rejection. Don't get discouraged too soon and hang in there. Also realize that they may be looking for more then just figure shots. Many models survive on just parts like a hand or a foot/feet model. You might also seek out schools near you that are reputable ones.
